Week 11 - Module 4 Execution
Day: Saturday
Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
We did not have activity during Week 10 as it was Eid al-Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast) and we are here to wish a blessed Eid to all Malaysians celebrating especially our fellow mentees. We hope everyone stays safe while also enjoying the grand celebration!
On 20 May 2021 (Thursday) during middle semester break, we were having a short briefing session on Module 4: CodaKid. All the executive members and one representative from each group should attend the dry run. There were several important decisions made such as each group should come out with at least one TikTok video from the mentees and the mentors played a very crucial role in walking the talk and motivating them to give it a try. The mentors should encourage the mentees to take part in the TikTok Challenge as attractive prizes will be given to the winners. Besides, the closing ceremony which was initially planned to be held on the same day as Module 4 was delayed to the following week on 29 May 2021 (Saturday). This is because we were afraid that the mentees will feel exhausted if the time period was set too long and they might also face Internet issues during that time! Furthermore, the TikTok video was made flexible which means the style or content are not compulsory to be related to the modules. Instead, the mentees will have freedom to choose the way of presenting their videos with only minimal requirement which are matters related to Computer Science. In addition, the deadline of the competition was also postponed to 25 May 2021 (Tuesday) and the submission link will be closed by 9am sharp!
On 22 May 2021 (Saturday), Module 4: CodaKid which was our last module was held. For this module, Tiow Kit Keong and I (Kong Jing Yuaan) as the mentors were in charge fully of the whole session as compensation due to our absences during Module 3 because we were involved in another activity on that day (Programming League Preliminary Round 2021). In Module 4, only one of our mentees was present but we continued our lesson despite of that! Before the event started, Module 4 Developer Team introduced the topics of that week and the teaching materials our mentees can refer to during the activity. One interesting thing was that a game link was provided in which the mentees can feel free to try it out and learn something from it. It is a Coding Game where the players need to write some special codes in order to level up and venture through the adventures according to the story plot. We hope that all the mentees will utilise this platform and explore more about coding for their own benefits.
Coding Game (Code Combat):
For the teaching materials this week, the developer team had prepared pre-test questions, post-test questions and extra contents which include 4 videos regarding this week's topic on Java Programming in which 2 of them are suitable for primary school students while another 2 for secondary school students. The mentees will get to know what is Java and what are the benefits of using Java as well as other programming languages that are commonly used in these days. Besides, QR Codes for the pre-test, post-test and feedback form were also provided for easier access! The answers for each of the questions were also prepared as reference for the mentors to evaluate their mentees. Most importantly, a lecture slide was constructed and all the important notes were inside it and the mentees were required to pay attention so that they could answer the quiz more confidently. In addition, there were extra examples on this module as well as a Question Bank to further enhance the mentees' understanding in this field. We hope that they will try out those exercises as practice makes perfect! Furthermore, Programiz, one of the online platforms for writing, compiling and running Java code and some other programming languages, was also introduced to the mentees and they get to explore on themselves as actions speak louder than words!

Moreover, there were several announcements to be made on that day regarding the TikTok Challenge. First, the participants were encouraged to share their videos to their friends or relatives and invite them to like the videos on the Instagram channel but not their personal TikTok account. In other words, the number of likes in other platforms will not be entertained by us. On 28 May 2021 (Friday) 12:00 p.m., the likes will be counted and the final decision made by the panel is unchallengeable. For the competition, it is divided into 2 categories which we will select a winner for the most-liked video and winners for Top 3 videos voted by all the mentors. Before ending the mentor-mentee session, we guided the mentees to answer the post-test questions involving some basic knowledge in programming such as data types, initialisation of variables, basic operators, input and output, conditional statements and iteration or looping. We also spared around 20 minutes to encourage our mentees to take part in the TikTok competition. The video could be as short as just 10 seconds but not exceeding 1 minute. A short video introducing the subject relating Computer Science will do and it is not compulsory to be based on one of our modules. They might also choose to not showing their faces in the video. Last but not least, we took a group photo and the mentees returned to main meeting room for quiz session which was conducted via Kahoot platform.

Top 3 players with the highest scores in the Kahoot quiz will be announced as the winners. We wish that our group members can obtain high achievements and pass the quiz with flying colours. After that, the mentees were informed that they need to fill out a Google Forms for electronic certificate (E-certificate) generation. They were also required to fill in their respective group names in order to claim the awards. Then, the mentees were told about the date and venue of our last event which was the closing session that will be held on next Saturday. Finally, everyone opened their webcams and took a group picture for memory. Feedback form was also forwarded to the mentees to receive opinions as well as to collect their thoughts regarding our event. Lastly, each group must send the video links for all the module recordings to Amrin Hafiz Bin Eddy Rosyadie as our Multimedia committee member to create a short final concluding video about our event in the closing ceremony. All of us were looking forward to our magnificent closing ceremony! Stay tuned and be ready!
