Week 12 - Closing Ceremony (Closing Chapter)

Image
Date: 29 May 2021 Day: Saturday Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Hooray! We were heading to our final chapter and this week will be the last meeting for our  program  "Bits With Teens" . It was indeed a memorable journey for all the mentors, mentees and the executive members as well as all the other parties who have supported our event! William Shakespeare once said "Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say good night till it be morrow". We as the mentors were feeling glad to be able to share our knowledge with the teens throughout the whole event. We were feeling sad at the same time because that marked the end of our program and we were unable to meet our amiable mentees again! Frankly, we hope they could learn something and a best of luck to all of them! On 28 May 2021 (Friday) 9:30 a.m., we were having a dry run for the Closing Ceremony and all the executive members and leaders of each group were required to attend. In that meeting, we planned the flow nicely so th...

Week 11 - Module 4 Execution

Image
Date: 22 May 2021 Day: Saturday Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. We did not have activity during Week 10 as it was Eid al-Fitr (Festival of Breaking the Fast) and we are here to wish a blessed Eid to all Malaysians celebrating especially our fellow mentees. We hope everyone stays safe while also enjoying the grand celebration! On 20 May 2021 (Thursday) during middle semester break, we were having a short briefing session on Module 4: CodaKid . All the executive members and one representative from each group should attend the dry run. There were several important decisions made such as each group should come out with at least one TikTok video from the mentees and the mentors played a very crucial role in walking the talk and motivating them to give it a try. The mentors should encourage the mentees to take part in the TikTok Challenge as attractive prizes will be given to the winners. Besides, the closing ceremony which was initially planned to be held on the same day as Module 4 was delayed...

Week 9 - Module 3 Execution

Image
Date: 8 May 2021 Day: Saturday Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. On 6 May 2021 (Thursday) during tutorial session, we were having a dry run session where we discussed the flow of program that will be carried out on Saturday. To highlight, one of the members of Module 3 Developer Team, Tiew Ker Xin, explained to us the teaching materials she and her team have prepared beforehand. In short, her team has prepared a lecture presentation slide on the required topic (Numeral System), a lecture video describing Number System, tutorial slides on some Questions and Solutions, an Extra Questions List, Sample Answers for Extra Exercises, pre-test questions, post-test questions, feedback form, Quiz 1 as well as Quiz 2, and all the QR codes for important links. For this week module, there were 2 types of Quiz questions with different level of difficulty. For Quiz 1, all the mentees are required to answer in a specific allocation of time while for Quiz 2, we will select the 10 top scorers in Quiz 1 to partici...

Week 8 - Module 2 Execution

Image
Date: 1 May 2021 Day: Saturday Time: 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. On that Thursday (29 April 2021), we did not have tutorial session as it was a public holiday ( Nurul Al-Quran). However, we were having a dry run on the next day (Friday) to discuss the flow of Module 2 program. It was compulsory for all the group leaders and the other mentors were also encouraged to join. The test run was conducted by Mohamad Nizar Mustaqeem Bin Mazlan (Leader) and Wan Suraya Binti Wan Mohd Lofti (Deputy). Both of them were very committed and the dry run was indeed a success.  On Saturday, it was a special day as it fell on Labour Day! Module 2: The Code-Breaker, which was about the art of cryptography, was carried out via Google Meet. The event started with recitation of "Doa" by Wan Muhammad Azib Bin Wan Abdul Rahim. Then, a brief introduction of Module 2 was done by one of the members of Module 2 Developer Team. All the materials prepared by them were also explained in the briefing session. In additi...

Week 7 - Module 1 Preparation and Execution

Image
Date: 22 April 2021 Day: Thursday We were having a brief meeting on that morning and it was held in Google Meet instead of Microsoft Teams just like usual. It is because we faced the problems where most of the mentees could not access the Teams channel due to some unknowing consequences in the previous meeting. Therefore, we were trying to use Google Meet to familiarise with all the functionalities of Google Meet. We hope that the participants will not face any obstacles using this new platform. First, the Module 1 Development Team was presenting the materials that have been created by them. In short, they had prepared a presentation slide for Module 1: Embedding the Flow, pre-test questions, post-test questions, quiz questions as well as the feedback form. They even provided additional information on that topic and stored them into a "library". In the library, there are practice questions for the mentor-mentee session which are divided into 3 parts in which Part A includes 1...

Week 6 - Preparation and Webinar Session

Image
Date: 15 April 2021 Day: Thursday On this day, all of us were feeling really excited about the program that will be held on that Saturday (17-4-2021) and we were having the final discussion regarding the flow of the event and the respective tasks of executive members, AJK ( Ahli Jawatankuasa ) and the mentors. First of all, Dr. Azah had announced some changes in terms of the groupings. To make the evaluation process easier to be executed by her, the executive members would leave their current groups and they would be forming an independent new group. The assessment of the executive members would be based on the completeness and fulfilment of the tasks assigned by Dr. Azah. This is because they had done a lot of preparation process prior to the event including the planning of proposal, designing of Google Form, creating of meeting rooms, banners, flyers etc and it would be fair for them if they were excluded from the mentoring sessions and only groups that did not contribute much in the...
